Idris Elba rules himself out for James Bond role: ‘I’m too old’

Idris Elba has ruled himself out for the next James Bond role, as he thinks he’s “too old”.

The 43-year-old was hotly tipped to take over from Daniel Craig as the next 007, but now Idris has put those rumours to bed.

“It’s the wildest rumour in the world. I keep saying if it was to happen, it’d be the will of the nation, because there’s not been no talks with me and studios about any of that, but everywhere I go, people want that to happen,” he said on Good Morning America.

The Wire star admitted that he thinks he’s “too old” to be running around, driving fast cars and sipping on martinis.

“If I’m really honest man, I think I’m too old for that! I ain’t gonna be running around, in cars, and ladies, and martinis. Who wants to do that? It sounds terrible!” he laughed.

The news comes after Irish actor Aidan Turner was also ruled out of the James Bond race, after it was revealed that he would be returning to film hit BBC series Poldark.
