Eight years after Heath Ledger’s tragic death, the actor’s last conversation with his family has been revealed – and it’s heartbreaking.
The Australian actor was founded dead at his apartment in New York back in January 2008, after swallowing a deadly mix of prescription drugs.
The toxicology report said his death was an “accident, resulting from the abuse of prescribed medications” due to “acute intoxication by the combined effects of oxycodone, hydrocodone, diazepam, temazepam, alprazolam and doxylamine”.
Heath’s father, Kim Ledger, has now spoken out about his son’s untimely death.

“It was totally his fault. It was no one else’s – he reached for them. He put them in his system. You can’t blame anyone else in that situation. That’s hard to accept because I loved him so much and was so proud of him,” he told Daily Mail Australia.
Kim, a businessman from Perth, also revealed that his daughter (Heath’s sister) Kate, spoke to her brother the night before his death, warning him to not mix his medication.
“His sister was on the phone to him the night before telling him not to take the prescription medications with the sleeping tablets.
“[Heath] said: ‘Katie, Katie, I’m fine. I know what I’m doing’. He would have had no idea.”

Kim admitted that the hardest part of his son’s death was that it was so unexpected, as Heath wasn’t a known drug addict.
“It was a one-off thing. That’s what killed us, because he was warned by his sister the night before: ‘You shouldn’t mix what you’re taking for pnemonia with your ambien’. But most of Heath’s problems were self-induced.
“He was a young guy that travelled all the time for work. Even as a two-year-old, he hardly ever slept. He was trying to work and travel and do everything in a short space of time,” he added.
Heath tragically passed away soon after he welcomed his daughter, Matilda, into the world with his actress girlfriend Michelle Williams.
