Just days before 2016 comes to an end, the year has taken yet another celebrity.
53-year-old George Michael has passed away “peacefully at his home” according to a statement from his publicist.
The singer very publicly struggled with alcohol and drug addiction, however no further information has been released on the circumstances of his death yet.
According to BBC.com, police have said there “were no suspicious circumstances”, and they arrived at his home at 1.42pm today.
The Wham singer is the latest celebrity to sadly pass away in 2016, with stars like Bowie, Alan Rickman, Prince and Leonard Cohen all dying this year.
Michael was set to release a new documentary in 2017, in a statement his representative said they were deeply saddened by his death.
“It is with great sadness that we can confirm out beloved son, brother and friend passed away peacefully at home over the Christmas period.
“The family would ask that their privacy be respected at this difficult and emotional time. There will be no more further comment at this stage.”
