Drake claims MASSIVE Spotify title

This is the second year in a row the artist has claimed the top spot

Drake has claimed a massive Spotify title as the most streamed artist on Spotify in 2016

The musician’s most popular song in the UK on the app was his hit, One Dance, ahead of Sia’s Cheap Thrills.

Mike Posner’s I Took A Pill In Ibiza was just behind Sia, which was voted one of the worst songs in 2016.

Drake’s latest album Views, released in April, has also been streamed more than 2.45 billion times since.

Spotify’s Stefan Blom told the Irish Independent, “Drake has been unstoppable this year – he’s a true global superstar.

“With the top album and the top song this year, as well as his successful Summer Sixteen tour, Drake continues to engage his fans in a way that only Drake can – it’s no surprise he is dominating the music industry.”

Being the most streamed artist in the world is nothing new to the rapper as this is his second year in a row to have been given the title.

Justin Bieber, Rhianna, Kanye West and Coldplay completed the top five streamed artists list, with Rhianna also topping the female artist chart after gaining more than 2.5 billion listens on the music service this year.
