Downtown Abbey’s Michelle Dockery opens up after death of Irish fiancé

Michelle Dockery has opened up after the loss of her Irish fiancé John Dineen, and revealed how she uses acting to cope during tough times.

The pair dated for two years before getting engaged in 2015 -and kept PR consultant John’s illness private up until his death.

“Acting for me has always helped with certain times in my life,” the English beauty said.

The 34-year-old admitted that she uses the characters she plays to allow herself explore the darker parts of herself.

“I love the characters I’m playing and they allow you to be free to go to those darker places of yourself,” she told The Sun.

“My family and friends have always been there for me through all of my difficult times, but I don’t want to name anyone.”

The actress further admitted that she’s very private about her life, but is grateful to be acting.

“I am very private about my private life.

“But I will say that I am very lucky to be doing something that I love,” she added.
