Courteney Cox defends Jennifer Aniston amid Brangelina split: ‘It’s not about her’

Courteney Cox has defended close pal Jennifer Aniston, after news broke that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie split were headed towards divorce.

The actress, who has been close to Jen since they both starred on hit sitcom Friends, has asked the public to leave longtime bestie out of Brad and Angelina’s divorce drama.

“It’s not about [Jennifer],” Courteney told Entertainment Tonight on Tuesday.

“I feel like we’re exacerbating it by even talking about it.”

Last Monday, 41-year-old Angelina Jolie filed for divorce from Brad, citing irreconcilable differences – which was allegedly spurred on by an incident that took place on a private jet the week before between Brad and their 15-year-old son Maddox.

Soon after the news broke, the internet was flooded with gifs and memes of a ‘delighted’ Jennifer Aniston – as Jen was previously married to Brad before divorcing in 2005, the same year he met Angelina whilst filming Mr. & Mrs. Smith.

Meanwhile, Jen’s husband Justin Theroux also spoke out against the unwanted attention – and branded attempts to drag his wife into Brangelina’s divorce as “nonsense”.

“There’s an endless appetite for trash, apparently – though everyone would say that they don’t have that appetite,” Justin told Business Insider.

“But I think a lot of people do because people buy it. But there are bigger things to bitch about. It’s shocking how much bandwidth things can take up when there are far more important things going on in the world.”

Speaking about Brad and Angelina’s split, Justin admitted that he felt sorry for their six children – Maddox, 15, Pax, 12, Zahara, 11, Shiloh, 10, and 8-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne.

“As a child of divorce, all I can say is that’s terrible news for those children and that’s all you can really say,” he added.
