Charlie Webster back in the UK after contracting malaria in Brazil

Charlie Webster has arrived back in the UK, after contracting malaria and falling seriously ill in Brazil.

The Sky Sports presenter was brought home on a specialist plane with a team of medical professionals, as her condition remains stable but serious.

After completing a 3000 mile charity cycle called Ride2Rio, the Team GB Ambassador fell ill at the Rio Olympics opening ceremony – and was rushed to hospital.

As Charlie’s health quickly started to decline, the 33-year-old was put into a medically induced coma, as it was revealed that she had contracted an incredibly rare strain of malaria on her travels.
