Carrie Fisher honoured with Lightsaber vigils across America

Star Wars fans have been holding lightsaber vigils to honour the late Carrie Fisher.

The star, who played Princess Leia in the franchise, passed away this week.

Yesterday, in both Los Angeles and Austin, masses of people gathered in the streets to pay tribute to Carrie Fisher.

Many of those in attendance posted photos and videos from the event, which saw everyone in a sea of neon as they held up their lightsabers.

In Los Angeles, one fan created a Facebook event for a vigil at Disneyland’s Downtown Disney District.

Creator of the event Jeff Rowan spoke to The Hollywood Reporter, “Last night at about 11, I decided to go ahead and make an event myself and see if anything would happen.

“Star Wars has played a huge part in my life. I hope Disney lets us in.”
