Carrie Fisher has died after suffering a heart attack last week on a flight in L.A.
The Star Wars actress, who is best known for playing Princess Leia in the popular franchise, suffered a heart attack last week and died in hospital today, Tuesday 27th December.
“It is with very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8.55 this morning,” a spokesperson for her daughter said in a statement to People magazine.
“She was loved by the world and she will be missed profoundly. Our entire family thanks you for your thoughts and prayers,” they added.
Since her heart attack Carrie had been placed on a ventilator.
Her death comes after the shock passing away of George Michael on Christmas Day, as well as Royle Family actress Liz Smith who died St Stephens Day.
