Brie Larson opens up on Captain Marvel role

Brie Larson has opened up on nabbing the role of Captain Marvel.

Marvel bosses confirmed the casting at Comic Con back in July, and the Room star couldn’t be more excited about the role – admitting that she wants Captain Marvel to remain as a role model for young girls.

“On social media, I get sent a lot of pictures of young girls wearing the Captain Marvel costume, and I’m excited to see more of that.

“She (Captain Marvel) is such a great symbol for young girls, and I’m realising what a deficit we have – that we don’t have more of those,” she told Space Channel.

“I think it’s really cool to see a girl in a Batman costume or Spider-Man costume, but I’m really excited that there’s a symbol for women. I think that that’s really important,” she added.

Brie will take on the role of Captain Marvel, real name Carol Danvers, and make her debut in Avengers: Infinity War – before headlining her own film scheduled for release March 8, 2019.
