Prince Harry and Meghan Markle released their official engagement portraits yesterday – and one thing that’s caught everyone’s eye is Meghan’s dress.

Posing on the stepS of Frogmore House, the stunning actress wore a Ralph & Russo gown, which is worth a reported €65,000.

The handmade couture gown took thousands of hours to make, and Kensington Palace have confirmed to the MailOnline that the dress was “privately purchased”.

The floor-length black tulle gown features a silk organza skirt, hand appliquéd with silk tulle ruffles, and an entirely sheer embellished top, which is decorated with intricate gold feather thread-work.

The dress, which is from Ralph & Russo’s autumn/winter ’16 collection, is a far cry from the Reiss dress which was worn by the Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton for her engagement photos.

In another image, Meghan is seen wearing a jumper by Victoria Beckham, which cost nearly €800.

The photos were taken by famous fashion and celebrity photographer Alexi Lubomirski.

In an Instagram message posted alongside the last picture from their shoot, Kensington Palace said, “Thank you so much for all of the wonderful comments following the release of Prince Harry and Ms Meghan Markle’s engagement photographs.”

“The couple are so grateful for the warm and generous messages they have received during such a happy time in their lives. As a way to say thank you, they have decided to share this candid photo from the day of their portrait sittings directly with all of you.”

Harry and Meghan will tie the knot at Windsor Castle on May 19, 2018.
