Who will be invited to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal wedding?

It’s set to be the most showbiz royal wedding in living memory

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal wedding is set to take place at Windsor Castle on May 19.

But the question on everyone’s mind is… who will be invited?

From royal officials to stars of legal drama Suits, we’ve listed some of Harry and Meghan’s potential guests – and explain why they’d be invited in the first place.

Barack and Michelle Obama

Barack and Michelle are sure to be on the guest list, as Prince Harry and the former US President have been friends for a number of years.

From first meeting in the oval office in October 2015, to Barack and Michelle’s trip to the UK when they had dinner in Kensington Palace – Harry and Barack go way back.

Barack also caught up with Harry in May last year, in what appeared to be a brief pit stop to the Palace.

As well as that, Michelle and Barack famously sent Prince Harry and his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, a video in which they lay down a challenge for the Invictus Games.

And finally, Harry recently interviewed Barack for his guest editorship position on BBC Radio 4. So, we’ll be expecting to see the Obamas amongst royalty again very soon.

Another celebrity we’re pretty sure will make an appearance at the royal wedding is Sir Elton John.

The legendary singer has been a long-time pal of the royals, and was close to Harry’s mother Princess Diana before she died back in 1997.

Elton attended Prince William and Kate’s wedding in 2011, and famously performed his hugely popular hit Candle In The Wind at Diana’s funeral in 1997.

Elton and Harry have also worked together, highlighting important issues in society and supporting charities. Most recently continuing Diana’s legacy in the support for the fight against AIDS.

Fuelling rumours that Elton WILL be at the royal wedding, the singer recently cancelled two of Vegas gigs, which were scheduled to take place on the same weekend and Harry and Meghan’s wedding.

It’s not yet known if the legendary songwriter will be a guest or a performer at the ceremony, or possibly both, but we think he’ll definitely be there regardless.

Sarah Ferguson

Contrary to previous reports, its believed that Sarah Ferguson will attend the Harry and Meghan’s wedding in an attempt to build bridges with the royal family.

Sarah Ferguson is the mother of recently engaged Princess Eugenie, and Princess Beatrice.

It was previously believed that the Duchess of York would not attend the latest royal wedding, as the former wife of Prince Andrew was not invited to Kate Middleton and Prince William’s wedding in 2011.

However, a royal source has told the Mail Online that the writer and philanthropist will be invited to a least “part of the day”.

Meghan’s Suits Co-Stars

Patrick J Adams and his wife Troian Bellisario could be invited to the royal nuptials.

Meghan and Patrick have been pals for years, as they played on-screen lovers in hit legal drama Suits from 2011 until 2017.

Patrick and his Pretty Little Liars star wife Troian are expected to be among the exclusive list of famous faces in attendance of the big day.

Another Suits co-star, Wendell Pierce, who played Meghan’s on-screen father for years in the hit legal drama, has also revealed that he’d love an invite to the royal wedding.

Victoria Beckham

Meghan and Victoria have reportedly become pals after the pair bonded over hair and makeup, meeting up in secret after the royal engagement was announced.

In December 2017, The Sun reported that Victoria gave the former actress a list of exclusive salons for her visit to London.

A royal insider told The Sun that Posh and Meghan have “grown close” and “regularly text” after Victoria recommended Sarah Chapman, a sought-after facialist in London.

Can we expect all the Beckhams to attend the wedding this year? We’ll have to wait and see…

Violet Von Westenholz

In case you didn’t know, Violet Von Westenholz, who is a childhood friend of Harry, was the person who first introduced the Prince to Meghan.

Violet’s father is a baron and a very close friend of Harry’s father Prince Charles, and she’s been a part of Harry’s trusted inner circle of friends for years.

Harry and Meghan were set up on a “blind date” in early summer 2016. Violet and Meghan’s paths crossed when they became friends through Violet’s PR work with fashion house Ralph Lauren.

It’s not clear if Prince Harry’s grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, will be in attendance at the wedding ceremony.

Due to royal tradition on divorcees, the world’s longest-reigning monarch didn’t attend the marriage of her son Prince Charles in 2005, as his now-wife Camilla was previously married.

The royal family have certain rules with regards to individuals who are divorced and their previous spouse is still alive.

As seen on The Crown, the Queen also had reservations on the marriage of her sister, Princess Margaret, to Peter Townsend. Margaret eventually married photographer Antony Armstrong-Jones.

Former actress Meghan married film producer Trevor Engelson in 2011, but the pair divorced two years later.

It remains to be seen who will be invited to the wedding, as the guest list is yet to be announced for the much-anticipated star-studded event.
