“There was one sequence in Blue Planet II which everyone seems to remember,” he began.
“It had an extraordinary effect and now this great festival has gone plastic-free.”
“That is more than a million bottles of water have not been drunk by you in plastic, thank you.”
What an awe-inspiring speech by Sir David Attenborough at Glastonbury. A society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they shall never sit in. No man epitomises this proverb more than David Attenborough, projects like ours are the trees that he has planted. pic.twitter.com/b0UYHHhmER

His speech was met by mass appreciation from the crowd, and from social media users.
“Imagine if our politicians, instead of dividing & stoking fear, inspired, brought together & encouraged as Sir David Attenborough does. Just imagine what a world we might all be living in,” wrote one.
“‘What’s the best set list you’ve heard live mate ?’ Erm David Attenborough probably” tweeted another.
