Tom Parker has said he is “overwhelmed” by the the support he’s received since revealing his terminal brain tumour diagnosis.
The Wanted star, who is expecting his second child with his wife Kelsey next month, shared the devastating news of his diagnosis on Monday– confirming the grade four glioblastoma with OK! Magazine.
Sharing the front page of the magazine on Instagram, where he posed with his pregnant wife and their daughter Aurelia Rose, Tom thanked his fans for the support.
The 32-year-old wrote: “We truly are overwhelmed with everyone’s love, support and positivity.”
“We have had so many people reach out with positive stories and it’s been incredible.”
The singer added: “We are fighting this- thanks to everyone behind us fighting alongside us 💪🏻💪🏻 Let’s do this.”
Sharing the heartbreaking news on Monday, Tom wrote: “Hey guys, you know that we’ve both been quiet on social media for a few weeks and it’s time to tell you why.
“There’s no easy way to say this but I’ve sadly been diagnosed with a Brain Tumour and I’m already undergoing treatment.”
“We decided, after a lot of thought, that rather than hiding away and trying to keep it a secret, we would do one interview where we could lay out all the details and let everyone know the facts in our own way.
“We are all absolutely devastated but we are gonna fight this all the way. We don’t want your sadness, we just want love and positivity and together we will raise awareness of this terrible disease and look for all available treatment options.
“It’s gonna be a tough battle but with everyone’s love and support we are going to beat this. Tom and Kelsey xxx”
Speaking to OK! Magazine about the diagnosis, Tom admitted: “I’m still in complete shock, it’s so much to take in.
“I knew something wasn’t right, but I never expected it to be this. You never think this will happen to you.
“I was in shock. It’s stage four glioblastoma and they’ve said its terminal. It was a lot to deal with by myself. I still haven’t processed it.
“I think Kelsey has come to terms with it better than me. It’s so consuming. It’s so hard and it’s all I can think about,” he added.
Tom and Kelsey got engaged in 2016, and before tying the knot two years later in July 2018.
They welcomed their daughter Aurelia Rose last July, before announcing they were expecting a baby boy earlier this year.
“I need everyone’s love and positivity. I am going to fight this,” he said, “We are already exploring alternative treatments and looking at clinical trials both here and abroad, and our friends have been doing research.
“There are so many stories of people who were given a bad prognosis and are still here five, 10, even 15 years later. We’re going to fight this all the way.”
