This is why Ellie Goulding’s wedding car is more important than you think

Fans are loving Ellie Goulding’s wedding car choice this weekend – and although people are loving the retro stlye, there’s another reason the singer chose this design.

The songstress tied the knot with Capsar Jopling in York, with guests like Katy Perry, Orlando Bloom, Sienna Miller and Princesses Eugiene and Beatrice in attendance.

But as all eyes were on Ellie as she arrived – fans shared photos and videos of the star getting out of a blue VW camper van.

Fans lined the streets trying to catch a glimpse of Ellie, 32, as she headed in to tie the knot.

Ellie chose an electric VW Minibus from 1972, having the car crested by Irish company Electrifi.

Goss.ie can reveal Ellie really wanted “a zero-carbon car for the wedding” and she chose between 4 cars before picking the VW.

Clearly the musician wanted to make a statement with the environmentally-conscious motor.

Electrifi is developing a range of high-performance electric cars in Co Wicklow, becoming the first company to manufacture cars in Ireland of any scale in almost 40 years.

The cars, known as hypercars, will be taken by Electrifi and will include some of the world’s most iconic classic car brands such as Ferrari, Lamborghini and Aston Martin.

They will be rebuilt and optimised with the latest technology and powered by a Tesla engine.
