The Most Complained About Love Island Moments

The new season of Love Island kicks off tonight at 9pm on Virgin Media One.

A new study from Uswitch has revealed which moments from the show have received the most Ofcom complaints in the past five years.

From Casa Amor scandals to brutal breakups, here are six dramatic and explosive Love Island moments that received the most complaints.

1. Dani Dyer seeing Jack Fincham reaction to his ex entering Casa Amor

In season four, the female Islanders received video footage of the moment Jack Fincham’s ex entered Casa Amor – leaving Dani Dyer distraught.

The emotional episode received over 4,000 complaints, and over 2,000 of those complaints were in response to Dani’s heartbreaking reaction.

2. Joe Garratt’s behaviour towards Lucy Donlan

Joe Garratt and Lucie Donlan’s rocky relationship was a major talking point in the 2019 season of Love Island.

In one scene, Joe pulled Lucie in for a “chat”, where he told her he wasn’t happy with the amount of time she was spending with the other male Islanders – and encouraged her to spend more time with the girls.

The moment, which saw Lucie break down in tears, reportedly received 500 complaints – with more complaints also made for Lucie’s welfare.

3. Maura Higgins’ advances towards Tommy Fury

Tommy Fury found love in the 2019 season of Love Island with Molly-Mae Hague.

However, when Irish bombshell Maura Higgins entered the villa, she had her eyes on the boxer – and made it known.

In one scene, the Longford native sat on top of Tommy and attempted to kiss him – but he turned away.

Some viewers felt uncomfortable watching the scene, and it received 709 complaints.

4. Georgia Steel and Jack Fowler’s kiss

The fourth most complained about Love Island moment with 655 complaints was Georgia Steel and Jack Fowler’s kiss in 2018.

The pair kissed while on a date, despite Jack being coupled up with Laura Anderson, but Jack insisted it was Georgia who initiated the kiss.

5. Finn Tapp’s fake news headline

Last year saw the show’s first ever winter edition.

Finn Tapp and Paige Turley were crowned the winners, but their relationship wasn’t always smooth sailing.

In the headlines game, one headline suggested that Finn’s head was turned while he was in Casa Amor – upsetting his partner Paige.

Viewers argued that the headline was misleading, and the moment received 544 complaints – the highest of that season.

6. 2019’s Post Casa Amor fallout

2019 saw one of the most brutal post Casa Amor recouplings in Love Island history.

Amber Gill decided to stay loyal to her beau Michael Griffiths while in Casa Amor, however he strayed for newcomer Joanna Chimonides.

Curtis Pritchard returned from Casa Amor without another girl, delighting his “half-girlfriend” Amy Hart.

However, her bliss was short-lived as Curtis confessed shortly afterwards that his head was turned by newcomer Jourdan Riane, and this lead to one of the most dramatic breakups the show has ever seen.

The dramatic scenes received over 200 complaints.
