The Crown‘s Matt Smith is reportedly joining the Star Wars:Episode IX cast.
Filming for the production has already begun in the U.K. with cast members such as Daisy Ridley, John Boyega and Oscar Isaac all returning for the final film in the sequel trilogy.
Variety reported that the 35-year-old will be joining the cast, but it is unknown what character he will be playing.
The news comes after Matt received an Emmy nomination for his portrayal of Prince Philip in The Crown.
The actor has previously played the iconic role of the Doctor in Doctor Who and has also more recently portrayed the role of Charles Manson in a new film about the infamous murderer.
Fans and celebrities have taken to Twitter to congratulate the actor on his new role in the successful film franchise.
