Skins co-creator Jamie Brittain has revealed why the movie plans were axed – he simply never read the script.

“I know a script was written, but I’ve never seen it. I don’t even know what was in it,” he insisted.

Movie axe: Jamie admitted a script was written for a Skins film | E4

The script was supposedly written by BAFTA winner Jack Thorne who also wrote for the show.

“It’s going to sound like I’m being elusive, but actually it’s the way with these things,” he told Digital Spy.

“They seem like they’re going to happen, to the point where you even announce them – and then they just kinda don’t.”

Forgotten: The creator said no one disagreed to a film but that it fell by the wayside | E4

Jamie admitted that no one said that the film couldn’t go ahead but that it clashed with schedules and eventually was forgotten about.

“It’s not like anyone puts their fist down and says, ‘I’m taking the Skins movie off the table!’ or anything like that.

“It’s more that… a script is written, but certain things aren’t set – like availability of actors – and it can end up slightly falling by the wayside,” he added.

If you want a nostalgic hit, you can watch all seasons of Skins on Netflix.
