Sharon Osbourne has claimed that people have been talking about Mel B’s abusive marriage for a “very, very long time”.
Mel B and her estranged husband Stephen Belafonte have made headlines over the past few weeks, after the former Spice Girl accused him of mental and physical abuse in explosive court documents.Â
Speaking about Mel’s claims on The Talk, fellow X Factor judge Sharon recalled the time Mel sparked worry when she took to the stage covered in bruises, after missing the first final live show.
“In the situation that she’s been in for 10 years, it’s not just physical, it’s mental abuse too. Three years ago, in the final two days of X Factor , she didn’t make the first day and she was in the hospital,” she explained.

“And it was reported in all the papers that said ‘allegedly’ she’s been beaten by her husband. And she came back for the final day and she had a black eye and bruising everywhere, but she made the final.”
“This has been brewing and people talking for a very, very long time. You know what, she’s a good girl. She’s a great mother. She works her bum off,” she added.
Earlier this week, Mel filed for a restraining order against Stephen, claiming that he beat her, blackmailed her with alleged sex tapes and impregnated their nanny during their ten-year marriage.
However, Stephen has “vehemently denied” her allegations.
