Sam Thompson has opened up about the Zara McDermott cheating scandal.
The couple dramatically split back in August, after Sam found out Zara hooked up with someone else during the early stages of their relationship.
At the time, it was reported that Zara cheated on him with someone “in the music industry”, around the same time she took part in the celebrity version of The X Factor in 2019.
The Made In Chelsea stars have since rekindled their romance, with Sam opening up about the scandal in a candid new interview.
He told MailOnline: “I hated that time. I didn’t enjoy it at all. But what human would? The way I handle things is by smiling and laughing about it and just trying to make it seem lighter than it already is. That’s always the way I’ve been.”
“It’s probably a defence mechanism. But I also kept on telling myself “f**k it this is what I’m so upset about? Just deal with it. There are people who are a lot worse off I’m incredibly lucky for the relationship drama to be the main drama in your life.'”
“I knew I loved her. I knew I wanted to be with her and it was tough but you’ve got to think of the positives. It brought us closer. I’m not one to judge because I’ve done stupid stuff,” Sam added.
The TV personality also revealed he hopes to start a family with Zara soon.
He said: “I’ve hit a stage where I’m doing my house up at the moment, I want to make it into a really nice adult home, I’m nearly 30 and I’m with the girl of my dreams.”
“Not in the next year… but not in the too distant future. I don’t want to be a really old dad. But I do need to grow up a little bit first.”
