Ryan Thomas has revealed that he declined counselling, after Roxanne Pallett wrongfully accused him of “punching” her on Celebrity Big Brother – an accusation which could have ruined his career.

The Coronation Street star went on to win the show after the public rallied around him, and Roxanne eventually admitted that she “got it wrong”.

The incident caused huge upset inside the CBB house and many fans of the show slammed bosses for not showing housemates the footage of what really happened.

Despite this, four months on from the incident, Ryan has praised Channel 5 for the way they handled it, and thanked his family for the support.

Speaking to The Mirror, Ryan said: “The show gives you that option and they look after you in that sense.”

“I’m quite level headed and I’ve got a good family around me, and network of friends that look after me. I didn’t feel that was necessary.”

“[My family are] my safe place. Being in an enclosed environment for three weeks, and then being reunited with your daughter, your brothers, your mum and dad, that was the highlight for me,” he added.

After the show came to an end and Roxanne admitted her mistake, the actress wrote Ryan a letter, begging for his forgiveness.

An insider told The Sun Online: “Ryan has finally received his letter from Roxanne. It was very heartfelt and unreservedly apologetic. He wants to put it to bed now and move on.”
