Robbie Williams heartbreakingly admits he’s not dealing well with parents ill health

In a candid admission, Robbie Williams has acknowledged that he is not handling his parents’ terrible illness “as he should.”

Earlier this year, the 50-year-old musician disclosed that his father, Pete, had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease four years prior, and that his mother, Janet, had been diagnosed with dementia.

Robbie made a rare statement to The Mirror regarding his parents, saying he “didn’t know” how to handle the “incredibly complicated” issue.

“The truth is that I’m very busy and I’m not dealing with the situation as I should. I don’t really know how to do it, it’s an incredibly complicated thing.”

He continued: “But I prefer not to go into details, You know, if I say something, they might read it, and then I would have to answer a lot of questions.”

“Let’s put it this way: we are all human beings, with our difficulties, and I am trying to deal with mine.”

Robbie first spoke about his mother’s diagnosis after revealing his upcoming biopic Better Man would portray his affectionate relationship with his late grandmother, who suffers from dementia.

In response to a question regarding his parents’ opinions of the movie, Robbie told HELLO! magazine: “My mum’s currently got dementia – like my nan in the film – and my dad’s got Parkinsons and can’t get out of bed. So I’m in a different part of my life right now.”

Robbie disclosed his father Pete’s Parkinson’s disease diagnosis back in 2020, acknowledging that he was battling “fear and panic” at the time.

Receiving the diagnosis during COVID made things much more tough, he told The Mirror, since he and his wife Ayda were living hundreds of miles away from his parents in Los Angeles, along with their kids.

In a previous interview with The Sun, the pop artist expressed his concern for both of his parents, saying: “They’re of that age that is very vulnerable to what is going on, so I am speaking to them on the phone daily.”

Robbie and his 45-year-old wife, Ayda, have a lot on their plate as Ayda recently disclosed that her mother Gwen’s cervical cancer has returned, following her fights with breast cancer, Parkinson’s disease, and lupus.
