Rita Ora reveals she’s been ‘called everything under the sun’ as she opens up about online trolling

The singer has shed light on the negative side of social media

Rita Ora has revealed that she’s been “called everything under the sun”, as she opened up about being trolled online “every day”.

During an interview with the Daily Star, the 28-year-old shed light on the negative side of social media.

The singer said: “I’ve literally been called everything under the sun. I feel like it happens every day online. Towards me, towards loads of people.”

“They write stuff all the time like, ‘you look horrible’, ‘you look whatever’, ‘why are you wearing that?’ Stuff people couldn’t say to you in real life.”

The songstress also admitted that she takes time off social media while she’s on holiday, in order to keep negativity at bay.

Rita’s comments come after a number of reality stars spoke out about being kinder on social media, following the death of Love Island star Mike Thalassitis.

The Essex native sadly took his own life recently, and his sudden death caused a massive debate online.

Many argued that reality stars cant handle the pressures of fame when they finish filming these TV shows, and that they should receive more support and aftercare.

Love Island bosses have since announced their plans to offer future contestants therapy and pre-show training.

Programme executives carried out a review six months ago, and said, “This review has led us to extend our support processes to offer therapy to all Islanders and not only those that reach out to us.”

“And we will be delivering bespoke training to all future Islanders to include social media and financial management. The key focus will be for us to no longer be reliant on the islanders asking us for support but for us to proactively check in with them on a regular basis.”
