Ricky Gervais has revealed his inspiration behind hit show After Life.
The trailer for the second series dropped this week, with fans all over the world highly anticipating the show’s return.
Opening up about the second series, the comedian admitted his girlfriend of 38 years, Jane Fallon, was his true inspiration.
“Imagine if you lost everything and you didn’t care about living anymore. You would be free to do or say anything you chose,” he explained to MailOnline.
“Then you ask ‘what does losing everything mean?’ My answer is losing your life partner. I can’t imagine it. I can’t imagine doing anything without her,” he admitted.
Ricky, 58, even said he wants “to die first” so he won’t spend any time without her “that is selfish” he admitted.
In the second season of After Life, Ricky’s character continues to mourn but decides to help more people around him.
