Queen Elizabeth II to make a surprise cameo in upcoming Hollywood blockbuster

In the upcoming third instalment of a Hollywood blockbuster, Queen Elizabeth II will make an unexpected appearance.

After a seven-year wait since Paddington 2, Paddington In Peru will be released on November 8.

It will star Olivia Colman, the legendary actress from The Crown, and the late Queen Elizabeth II.

A tiny clip from a short film created as part of the late monarch’s 2022 Platinum Jubilee celebrations will show her sipping afternoon tea with Paddington during her cameo.

Buckingham Palace’s clearance was required to secure this unique scene for the feature film, and the Royal Family was “very happy for it to happen.”

Variety reports that Ron Halpern, head of global productions at France’s Studiocanal, promised that it happened “with the consent and agreement of the royal household.”

“[The royal family] were actually very happy for it to happen,” producer Rosie Alison told Variety.

“But we don’t like to make a big deal of it, because Paddington’s obviously a very modest fellow.”

Meanwhile The Crown favourite Olivia Coleman, said she was ecstatic and “signed without hesitation.”

“Paddington is just the best person in the whole wide world,’ she exclaimed.

“Imagine if everyone was like Paddington, wouldn’t that be lovely?”

It was announced earlier this month that Paddington had received an official UK passport from the Home Office.

The character, who was born in Peru, was given a passport for his travels in the future film, according to the co-producer of the third instalment in the film series.

Rob Silva told Radio Times: “We wrote to the Home Office, asking if we could get a replica, and they actually issued Paddington with an official passport – there’s only one of these.”

“You wouldn’t think the Home Office would have a sense of humour, but under official observations, they’ve just listed him as Bear.”
