Princess Diana reveals she overheard Prince Charles ‘talking dirty’ with Camilla in new tapes

Princess Diana revealed that she once caught Prince Charles ‘talking dirty’ with Camilla as he sat on the toilet.

In 12 hours of footage, which was filmed by a handpicked BBC cameraman five months before her death in 1997, Diana reportedly told how Camilla was the “raunchier of the two” after listening in on some of her husband’s phone calls to his mistress.

The tapes are completely separate to those made by her voice coach Peter Settelen, which are due to be broadcast on Channel 4 tonight in a new documentary.

According to The Sun on Sunday, the name-less BBC cameraman was secretly summoned to Kensington Palace by Diana in March 1997.

The cameraman kept a diary of the seven recording sessions, and revealed that Diana offloaded years of anger with the Royal Family, including how she caught Charles red-handed— talking to his mistress, Camilla.

“She caught Charles and Camilla de flagrante after listening in to his phone calls. She described how she came to listen to their phone calls. In one, Charles was sitting on the toilet seat when she caught him,” he wrote in the diary. “Camilla was the raunchier of the two. She gives examples”.

In another one of the recordings, which were made in ten-minute segments, she allegedly vowed to stop Charles becoming king, instead pushing for their son William to end up on the throne.

“She makes it clear that she would do everything possible to make sure Charles never became King. She wanted William to succeed to the throne when the Queen died. Diana clearly saw her role as the power behind William.”

“She had this somewhat romantic idea of being a king-maker, the mother behind the monarch.”

Diana also spoke about her affair with James Hewitt, and claims that Charles “didn’t care”.

“I entered into a relationship with James. Charles knew about it and didn’t care. He said it gave him the freedom to run his own life,” she said.

The cameraman, who is still alive and reportedly living in America, was paid £5,000 for the sessions after documentary maker Desmond Wilcox recommended him.

However, he reportedly bought two untraceable non-contract phones amid fears that the Secret Service could eavesdrop on their conversations.

In a book, Desmond Wilcox claims he was approached by MI5 agents about the recordings, which have never been found – however, The Sun has reported that they tapes may have been recovered in a police raid on Diana’s butler Paul Burrell’s house, as well as the tapes from the Settelen sessions.

Controversial: The Settelen tapes, which detail the collapse of her marriage, will air on Channel 4 tonight | WENN/SIDEWALK

The Settelen recordings, which detail the collapse of her marriage, are set to be shown in a controversial Channel 4 documentary called Diana: In Her Own Words, which is due to air tonight.

Peter Settelen was hired by Princess Diana to build her confidence in public speaking, but in the process he recorded her no-holds-barred confessions about the Royal family.

Settelen became locked in a copyright battle with the Spencer family (Diana’s family), but he eventually won, thanks to being financially backed by NBC who wanted to broadcast the tapes. He was eventually given his tapes back after the court battle, but at least five were missing.

A pal said, “When Peter was trying to get his tapes back he wanted to know what happened to all the others that were missing, so he started asking the police what else they found. He was given an evidence log with thousands of things on it and there were these audio tapes and some video tapes.

“He asked to see the other tapes because he thought they might be his but the police said: ‘You can’t look at them, they’re nothing to do with you’.”

It’s feared they could be the BBC cameraman’s recordings, which may have been destroyed —along with Settelen’s missing tapes.

“Peter has always wondered what on earth has happened to the rest of the recordings. He doesn’t have them. They could have been destroyed by Diana, or the Spencer family could have found them and either destroyed them or kept them.

“The most likely possibility is that either they were at the palace and scooped up and quickly disposed of before anyone had the chance to see them, or Diana destroyed them herself.”

In the Channel 4 documentary Diana: In Her Own Words, viewers will hear Diana claim that Charles told her he “refused to be the only Prince of Wales who never had a mistress.”

According to reports, Diana also claims that the Queen refused to help her, and that Prince Philip gave Charles permission to cheat.
