Prince Harry has made a surprise appearance on Strictly Come Dancing.
The Duke of Sussex appeared on Saturday night’s show via video link, as he wished his friend JJ Chambers good luck ahead of his performance.
Speaking to the Invictus Games medallist and his professional dancer partner Amy Dowden, Harry greeted his pal by saying: “Nice tan JJ!”
Prince Harry made a surprise appearance on @bbcstrictly tonight to (virtually) cheer on pal, former @RoyalMarines and @WeAreInvictus medalist @JJChalmersRM, who is competing on the show. “I’m so proud, genuinely proud that here you are in this position now,” the duke told him. pic.twitter.com/p3vOlIbGm6

“When I first met JJ he was a shell of himself,” Harry explained, “But then to see you shine through Invictus and to be yourself again, that was the start of an amazing journey.”
JJ told viewers: “The simple fact is, if Prince Harry had not created the Invictus Games, I wouldn’t have had that moment to change my life forever.”
Harry added: “You’re definitely having an impact on society now, especially when you’re wearing those tight blue shorts and the socks pulled up.
“It doesn’t get better than that!” he joked.
“I’m genuinely proud,” Harry told JJ, “You’re not a dancer, proving that you can actually do whatever you put your mind to which is amazing.”
The Invictus Games, created by Prince Harry, is an international sporting event which is adapted for wounded, injured or sick armed services personnel.
JJ took part in the games back in 2014, after sustaining severe injuries following an IED explosion while serving in Afghanistan three years prior.
After forming a friendship at the Invictus Games, JJ was even invited to Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal wedding, along with his wife Kornelia.
Following Harry’s appearance on Strictly, viewers took to Twitter to share their admiration for the royal.
One user tweeted: “Seeing Prince Harry on #Strictly just made my day. He looks so relaxed and happy he is so like his mum, gentle, kind and loveable.”
A second wrote: “So lovely to see all the love for #PrinceHarry tonight. As always supporting the military community and his #InvictusGames friends.”
