Prince Albert criticises Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s interview with Oprah Winfrey

Prince Albert has criticised Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey.

The 63-year-old, who is the reigning sovereign of Monaco, has admitted he was ‘bothered’ by the couple airing their issues with the Royal family on television.

During a rare interview with BBC World News, he said: “I think it’s very difficult to be in someone’s place. I can understand the pressure that they were under.”

“But I think this type of public of dissatisfaction, to say the least, these types of conversations should be held within intimate quarters of the family.”

“It doesn’t really have to be laid out in the public sphere like that. It did bother me a little bit,” he confessed.

“I can see where they’re coming from in a certain way, but I think it wasn’t the appropriate forum to have these kinds of discussions.”

When asked if he had any advice for Prince Harry, Albert replied: “I wish them the best, but it’s a difficult world out there and I hope he can have the judgement and wisdom to make the right choices.”

Back in 2019, Prince Albert publicly defended the couple amid their fight for more privacy.

During an interview with People magazine, the monarch expressed his “support and my sympathy” for Harry.

Meghan and Harry made a number of shocking claims about the Royal family during their interview with Oprah Winfrey earlier this month.

The Duchess of Sussex admitted she felt suicidal during her time as a senior working royal, and claimed she wasn’t supported by the Institution.

Meghan also alleged there were “concerns and conversations” about “how dark” their son’s skin might be when he was born.

A shocked Oprah responded: “What? Who, who is having that conversation with you? What?”

Meghan refused to reveal who was having those conversations as it would be “very damaging” to them, but claimed there were “several conversations about it, with Harry.”

Buckingham Palace later issued a statement addressing Meghan and Harry’s interview with Oprah.

The statement said: “The whole family is saddened to learn the full extent of how challenging the last few years have been for Harry and Meghan.”

“The issues raised, particularly that of race, are concerning. Whilst some recollections may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately. Harry, Meghan and Archie will always be much loved family members.”
