Piers Morgan reveals his elderly parents contracted the coronavirus

Piers Morgan has revealed that both of his parents have contracted the coronavirus.

The Good Morning presenter admitted it was a “scary” time for his family, as his parents are both in their 70s.

Piers opened up about his parents battle on Monday morning’s show, while speaking to Kate Garraway about her husband Derek Draper – who remains seriously ill in hospital after contracting the virus back in March.

He said: “I would just like to say something to my parents who are both battling Covid at the moment, and have been for two weeks.”

“Kate said something there which just resonated with me, it’s a scary thing for a family, when your elderly parents – my parents are both in their mid to late 70s – got it two weeks ago, from someone in a bubble. A family bubble.

“Then bang, it was like dominos. They had one lunch together, and within three days both my mum and dad had Covid-19 and it’s been a long two weeks for our family,” he added.

Piers also called on those responsible for the theft of Kate’s family car to come forward, as Kate revealed it was a “blow” to the family.

“Honestly if you took that car look at your humanity for a moment please and give the damn car back,” he said.

“It’s got sentimental value. It is the family car and it’s the only one the two kids have known, it’s part of the family life.

“This family needs that car,” he added.
