PICS: Meghan Markle and Queen Elizabeth look like the best of friends during first solo engagement

So cute!

Meghan Markle and Queen Elizabeth looked like the best of friends as they giggled through their first solo royal engagement together.

The former actress and the British monarch arrived in Cheshire on Thursday to begin their first official joint royal trip without Prince Harry.

The new Duchess of Sussex stunned in a cream Givenchy dress, the same designer who made her wedding dress.

Meanwhile, The Queen opted for a green coat by Stuart Parvin, and a hat by Rachel Trevor.

It seems Meghan’s new grandmother-in-law has taken her under her wing since she married into the royal family, as Vanitiy Fair has reported that Meghan was personally invited by the Queen.

Royal expert Ingrid Steward told People, “The Queen knows the potential pitfalls of not giving [new members] a guiding hand.”

“It’s all about the monarchy. She can’t expect Meghan to know everything without being shown. She doesn’t want 70 years of hard work to be for nothing. I’m sure she feels Meghan needs a steadying hand in these early days.”

The pair travelled overnight on the royal train, and were greeted by crowds at Runcorn station.

Their trip includes a visit to the Catalyst Museum in West Bank, Widnes and the official opening of the Mersey Gateway Bridge, before heading to Chester for more royal duties.
