Phoebe Dynevor admits she skipped sex scenes when watching Bridgerton with her mum

Phoebe Dynevor has admitted she had to skip past her steamy sex scenes when watching Bridgerton with her mother Sally Dynevor.

The 25-year-old plays Daphne Bridgerton in the series, the oldest daughter of an influential family, as she searches for a husband in the competitive world of Regency London.

The show features plenty of raunchy scenes, and most starred Phoebe and her co-star Regé-Jean Page, who plays the Duke of Hastings.

Because of this, Phoebe has revealed she had full control of the remote when watching the Netflix hit with her mum.

Speaking to Steve Wright on BBC Radio 2, Phoebe said: “I had to sit there and fast forward on high alert with the remote control. We managed it just about.”

The actress is the daughter of Coronation Street legend Sally Dynevor.

The 57-year-old has played Sally Webster in the long-running ITV soap since 1986.

The news comes after Regé-Jean Page recently admitted that he sent a WhatsApp message to warn his family about the show’s raunchy sex scenes, but some relatives didn’t get the message.

Speaking on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, the actor said: “We missed one of my cousins. She sent me a message that was like, ‘I had to make so many tactical cups of tea during the show.'”

“She said, ‘I came back, and you were still going, so I had to go back and put the kettle back on’.”

“So my family are very stimulated and caffeinated at this point, which sounds like a deadly combination,” he laughed.

Although the erotic scenes have appeared very risqué to some viewers at home, Phoebe has admitted she found the experience “safe and fun”.

During a recent interview with Grazia UK, the Manchester native said: “I love [Daphne’s] coming-of-age story and her sexual awakening.”

“I love seeing the female gaze and watching her figure it out for herself. She’s a late bloomer, but it’s not like she can google it.”

“My first-ever scene was in episode six, where Simon (played by Regé-Jean) is going down on Daphne,” she recalled.

Phoebe revealed an intimacy coordinator helped to choreograph the scenes, and said: “And it was so great, because it felt safe and fun. You choreograph it like a stunt, or a dance.”

“It’s crazy to me that that hasn’t been there in the past. I’ve done sex scenes before that I can’t believe I did. It was only five or six years ago, but it would not be allowed now.”

Fans of the series will be delighted to know that there’s plans in place for more seasons of Bridgerton.

During an interview with Collider, producer Chris Van Dusen revealed: “I feel like the first season was primarily about Daphne and her love story with Simon.”

“But, this being a family of eight children and there being eight books, I would love to be able to focus and really tell stories and love stories for all the Bridgerton siblings. For each character, for sure.”

Unsure of what the future holds for characters Daphne and Siomon, he said: “It’s interesting. I think it’s too early to tell right now. I think that we’re along for the ride of Daphne and Simon’s love story this first season.”

“And, I think we’ve done some work in Season 1 to set up other characters. We really dig into Anthony’s love story. We’re really exploring Benedict as well, and Collin, and Eloise relationship. I think it’s a deep well of story for us to explore.”

When asked if he’d want eight seasons, Chris confirmed: “I would love that. In success, I would love that.”
