Nicola Roberts has revealed that her best friend Cheryl is doing “good” following her split from Liam Payne.

The Girls Aloud star, who consoled Cheryl in NYC after the break up, spoke about her pal during an appearance on Loose Women today.

When asked how Cheryl was doing following the news of her split, Nicola said, “She’s good, she’s ok.”

However, Nicola continued, “I actually think what’s been interesting this week is to see how the misogyny through the media has played out.”

“There’s been a couple of articles like, ‘Why can’t she hold a man down?’ and stuff like that, and it’s just like, ‘Why can’t a man hold her down?!'”

Earlier this week, The Sun revealed that the pair split two weeks ago, but will continue to raise their son Bear together.

A source said, “Cheryl and Liam worked really hard on their relationship – they had troubles earlier this year and were able to get through them.”

“But they’re in different stages of their lives and, after a lot of careful thought, came to a decision that it’s best for everyone if they do go their separate ways.

“He still cares for her and she cares for him. They still have an ongoing relationship together. They have a baby together.

“Both Cheryl and Liam have successful careers that take a lot of time, which didn’t always make things easy. There were ups and downs for a long time,” the source added.
