A new biography has shed light on Meghan Markle’s close relationship with the Queen and Prince Charles, before she famously quit the Royal family earlier this year.

Finding Freedom, written by royal watchers Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand, was released today after months of anticipation.

The biography was written “with the participation of those closest to the couple”, but Harry and Meghan have denied being involved with the book whatsoever.

New excerpts from the book reveal how close Meghan was to the Queen and Prince Charles, who she considered her “second father”.

The Prince of Wales walked Meghan down the aisle at her and Prince Harry’s wedding in May 2018, after her own father Thomas Markle was forced to pull out due to health reasons.

The authors write: “Meghan had her own reasons for admiring her father-in-law, who had poignantly walked her down the aisle when her own father let her down.”

A friend close to Charles also revealed how he liked the former actress’ energy, and said: “He likes very strong, confident women. She’s bright, and she’s self-aware, and I can see why they’ve struck up a very quick friendship.”

“The Prince of Wales has always been fond of people from the Arts, like Emma Thompson, who he’s been mates with for years.”

The book also claims Meghan struck up a close rapport with the Queen, who thought she was “very clever and good at understanding what’s required.”

Meghan attended her first engagement with the Queen on June 14th 2018, and the book’s authors noted: “The Queen was wonderful, warm, and generous toward the new Duchess.”

“She made sure Meghan knew what was going on and made her feel very much at home because it was her first trip.”

Sadly, Meghan’s close relationship with the Royal family was fractured over time, as her and Prince Harry quit their roles earlier this year.

After the couple completed their final engagements in March, the book notes that Meghan left the UK “emotional bruised and exhausted”.
