New biography claims the Queen had ‘secret plan’ for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry to move to Africa

A new biography has claimed that the Queen had a “secret plan” for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry to move to Africa.

Battle of Brothers, written by the historical consultant to the Netflix series The Crown Robert Lacey, details the allegedly tumultuous relationship between brothers Prince William and Prince Harry.

In an extract published by the Daily Mail, the author claimed the Queen suggested that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex spent a year or two in Johannesburg back in 2019.

Robert claimed this was a bid to give Harry and Meghan a taste of “ordinary life”, prior to their decision to step away from their senior royal duties earlier this year.

The book says the Queen herself experienced “normal” life  during her trips to Malta between 1949 and 1951 with Prince Philip, who was serving as a naval officer there at the time.

The author claimed Harry and Meghan were interested in the move to Africa, or else a move to somewhere else in the British Commonwealth of Nations – where the Queen was allegedly considering offering them a role in order to become “self-sufficient”.

The couple stepped down from their senior royal positions at the end of March, explaining they would be splitting their time between North America and London and would become “financially independent”.

The couple then moved to a $14.7 million mansion in Santa Barbara, California with their son Archie.

Battle of Brothers: William and Harry – the Friendship and the Fueds will “address the unique and complex relationship at the heart of the royal family’s recent woes.”

The historical consultant of The Crown said his newest book will detail the “devastating breakdown of their once unbreakable bond.”

The books synopsis reads: “Much reported on but little understood, Diana’s boys have lived under constant scrutiny since birth. Raised to be the closest of brothers, the last 18 months has seen a devastating breakdown of their once unbreakable bond.”

“With an unrivalled knowledge of court life and access to impeccable sources, Robert Lacey investigates the untold reality of the brothers’ relationship, explaining what happened when two sons were raised for vastly different futures and showing how the seeds of damage were sown as their parents’ marriage unravelled.”

The book is set for release on October 20th.
