Natalie Imbruglia addresses fix claims after The Masked Singer finale

Natalie Imbruglia has admitted she didn’t want to win the 2022 series of The Masked Singer UK, as she addressed claims the finale was “fixed”.

The Australian singer was disguised on the show as Panda, and beat names such as Charlotte Church and Mark Feehily to win the title.

Speaking to The Mirror after the show, Natalie said: “Oh I didn’t want to win at all, I was like, ‘Oh I’m not gonna get to even the second show.'”

“And I don’t remember the first two performances because I was so nervous, terrified. In fact, I did stumble the words if you watch closely.”

“So yeah I was really nervous and really didn’t expect to get that far, I just thought it would be a bit of fun.”

Natalie also addressed claims the finale was “fixed”, after viewers said Charlotte Church (Mushroom) or Mark Feehily (Robobunny) should have won instead.

The 47-year-old said: “I think it’s lovely that fans are so behind the characters that they get so upset if their character doesn’t win.”

“Clearly the show is not fixed, and I think this show is about fun and it’s meant to be light-hearted.”

“And all I can say, from my point of view, being in costume all of us were so loving and friendly towards each other – not that we knew who each other was!”

“Mushroom and I were hugging all the time before we went onstage and I was like, ‘I really hope that’s Charlotte Church’, so that’s the only one I did guess.”

Natalie also revealed she didn’t perform any of her own songs as it would have been too risky, and could have easily revealed her identity.
