Molly-Mae Hague has faced criticism online, after calling a £2,000 puffer jacket “chav chic”.
The Love Island star unboxed a Gucci x North Face coat on her Instagram Stories on Monday, showing off the expensive designer item to her 5.1 million followers.
Trying on the lavish coat, the 21-year-old wrote: “Chav chic and I’m here for it.”
The reality star faced backlash for the post on Twitter, with many branding her “tone deaf” and “classist”.
One follower wrote: “chav has always been a classist word to mock working/lower class people it’s not a new thing /: i love molly mae but baby no.”
A second tweeted: “Calling out molly mae for using the words chav chic to describe a £2000+ coat is not ‘jealousy’, I absolutely love her but she is very tone deaf and so are a lot of you on here clearly …”
