Meghan Markle used to speak about Prince Harry “in code” on the set of Suits, it has been revealed.
The former actress, who announced her departure from the USA series shortly after her engagement to Prince Harry, used to commute back and forth between Toronto (where Suits is filmed) and London (where Harry lived).
And now, Wendell Pierce, who played Meghan’s on-screen father for years in the hit legal drama, has revealed how Meghan would refer to her romance with the British royal in “code”.
During an interview on Harry Connick Jr.’s talk show, Wendell said, “We always talked about [Harry] in code, really.”
“You know, ‘How you doing?,’ ‘Oh, I’m going to London, coming from London,’ whatever.”
As for the last conversation Wendell had with Meghan as she filmed her final scenes for the show in November, he said, “It was just she and I in the room and I said, ‘I know your life is going to change but always know, no matter where you are, I will always be your loving fake father.’”
The actor also added that he’s hoping for an invite to the royal wedding, which is set to take place at Windsor Castle on May 19.
