Meghan Markle is planning to break this royal tradition – and the Royal family don’t seem to mind.
Meghan, 36, went against tradition last week and it seems that she’s hoping to break another royal tradition this Christmas.
The suits actress wore a white overcoat when posing for pictures with Prince Harry on the steps of Kensington Palace after announcing their engagement.
Meghan’s wardrobe choice differed greatly from that of Kate Middleton’s who wore a blue dress similar to the one Princess Diana wore for her engagement photos.
And following on from one rule break to another, the Canadian actress plans to spend Christmas this year with the royal family.
Unlike, Kate Middleton, Meghan will spend the festive period this side of the Atlantic with Harry and the rest of the royal family.
Kate never joined the royal family for Christmas until she was married to Prince William.
Speaking to Express.co.uk, royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams said that: “it is expected Meghan will join Harry and the rest of the Royal Family for Christmas on the Queen’s estate in Norfolk this year”.
“In 2010 Kate was not invited to do so after her engagement to William nor was Mike Tindall after his to the Princess Royal’s daughter Zara Phillips and only spouses and close family are usually invited, ” he added.
But, since Meghan is now living with Harry at Nottingham Cottage and all of her family live in America, it is expected that she will get an invite to spend Christmas with the royal family.
