Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton appear much more modern than the Queen and the royal butler has revealed how.
Speaking to the Express.co.uk Grant Harrold explained how both of the women get down on their knees while addressing kids and give hugs. The Queen would never do this.
He has worked for HRH Prince Charles, the Duchess of Cornwall, the Duke of Cambridge and Prince Harry and revealed, “[The younger generation of royals] do things we all recognise, especially when it’s kids – they go down to their level, they interact with them.”
“The older generation of royals don’t tend to do that – the Queen doesn’t go down to them.”
“With Prince Harry and Meghan I think they that that further,” he said recalling a royal engagement in Birmingham where Prince Harry led a little girl over to Meghan after she told him she wanted to be an actress.
“Can you imagine the older generation of royals meeting someone who wanted do whatever job and they said ‘oh you’ve got to come over and meet the other royal’?”
“As soon as I saw that hug I went on Twitter and put a picture of Princess Diana up. At the end of the day, Princess Diana was seen as a very modern royal. She did things her way and that’s kind of what the younger royals are doing – they are modernising and the younger generation and people love them.”
Harrold also remarked that Kate Middleton and Prince William act in a more sophisticated way when dealing with the public than Meghan and Prince Harry, who are very relaxed.
“It’s completely changed. Prince William and Kate Middleton, they have a very modern approach but they do it in a very classy way.”
