Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have responded to reports that they issued a strict list of rules for their neighbours.

Last week, The Sun reported that people living near Frogmore Cottage in Windsor have been warned not to approach or speak to the couple.

The newspaper also claimed that their neighbours were told not touch their dogs, and told not to ask to see their baby son Archie.

However, a Buckingham Palace spokesperson has since told HELLO! magazine: “The Duke and Duchess didn’t request this, didn’t know about it, and had nothing to do with the content or guidance offered.”

In recent months, Meghan and Harry have come under fire for being ‘too private’.

Earlier this month, the Duke and Duchess caused outrage when they refused to reveal the identities of Archie’s godparents, because they want their son to be a “private citizen”.

Previous royal parents, including Prince William and Kate Middleton, have chosen to the share the names of their children’s godparents – but the Duke and Duchess of Sussex used a royal loophole to ensure Archie’s godparents remain a secret.

At the time, royal critics slammed their decision to keep the christening private, especially following reports that the couple spent over £2million of taxpayers money on refurbishments at Frogmore Cottage.

In response to the news, GMB host Piers Morgan said: “Harry & Meghan need to stop playing these dumb cake-and-eat-it games with the media/public. If you want your home costs paid by the taxpayer, you reveal this kind of info. That’s the deal.”

In another controversial move which is sure to upset royalists, the couple decided not to allow TV cameras in to the grounds of Windsor Castle to record the royal family arriving to Archie’s christening.

Instead, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex shared some images taken on the day by photographer Chris Allerton on their Instagram page.
