Reality TV star Megan McKenna has revealed that she will ditch reality TV to focus on her music career after winning X-Factor: Celebrity.
The 27-year-old rose to prominence starring on The Only Way is Essex but had previously auditioned for The X-Factor.
She first appeared on our TVs in 2009 when she was 16 years old, as part of girl group Harmony on Britan’s Got Talent.
In an interview with The Sun, Megan said she was never happy doing reality television and will now focus her career on music.
“It’s sort of like a Cinderella story for me. The fact that I’ve gone through all the reality TV stuff while trying my whole life to get to a moment like this – it’s amazing. I’m finally living my dream.”
“I never wanted to do reality TV and I was never happy doing it. I feel like it’s really difficult to get into the industry and for me, from a normal family – I didn’t have any links into the music industry.”
The star plans to pursue country music after winning a show she auditioned for twice previously.
In 2014 and 2015 she made it to the boot camp stage of The X-Factor.
Megan won the Celebrity version of the show, beating stars such as Ben Foden, Kevin McHale and Ricki Lake to land a record deal with Simon Cowell’s label, Syco.
