Matt Lucas and David Walliams reunite for new project

Matt Lucas and David Walliams have announced they will reunite for a new project.

According to Matt Lucas, he and David Walliams have begun recording a new project, which he anticipates releasing next month.

The two became well-known for their roles as co-writers and actors in the sketch comedy series Come Fly with Me and Little Britain.

Actor and comedian Lucas stated he was “really excited” about the project during his appearance on BBC Breakfast, although he did not provide any information.

“The good news is, we’re doing something that we’re really excited about and it’s going to start, I believe, next month. So that’s all I can tell you,” he said.

Lucas revealed that instead of portraying characters as they did in the past, he and David would be playing themselves.

When asked if there would be any comedy, he responded, “I hope so,” and disclosed that they had “already recorded some of it.”

After being questioned further, he acknowledged that the initiative had nothing to do with a book, song, or theatrical production.

Additionally, he stated that it will not air on television, but in response to a question about whether it would be available on a streaming service, he said: “It might be? Who knows?”

After the comic duo “quit” their long-standing TV commitments, Lucas disclosed last year that he and David had been “brainstorming” a new series.

“So David Walliams and I have resumed writing together, and we just thought, ‘It’s time, it’s time,'” he said on BBC Radio 2’s The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show at the time.

“So we’ve sort of quit our jobs and decided to do that.”

After hosting three series with fellow comedian and actor Noel Fielding, Lucas resigned from his position as co-host of The Great British Bake Off in December 2022.

In addition, he starred in the new Gladiator sequel starring Paul Mescal and the film Wonka, which was a prequel to the beloved Roald Dahl classic in which Timothee Chalamet played the titular character.

Filming the project in Malta was “great fun,” according to Lucas, who plays the Master of Ceremonies in the Colosseum in Ridley Scott’s upcoming historical epic.

In 2022, David, who has also been a successful children’s author, resigned from his position as a judge on Britain’s Got Talent.

After apologising for making “disrespectful comments” about people auditioning during production breaks at the London Palladium in January 2020, he left.

The comments were made public after a transcript of the conversation was leaked to The Guardian in November 2022.

After Davod sued the corporation for misusing private information and violating the Data Protection Act of 2018 and the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UKGDPR), Fremantle, the producer of the talent show, later expressed regret and came to an “amicable resolution” with David.
