Lucy Mecklenburgh hits back at trolls who say she shouldn’t breastfeed in public

Lucy Mecklenburgh has hit back after a troll suggested mothers should not breastfeed in public.

The new mother welcomed her first child Roman in March this year with her fiancé Ryan Thomas.

The 28-year-old took to Twitter to retweet a clip of fellow mother Stacey Soloman, who defended mothers who choose to pump breast milk in public in a Loose Women appearance.

A Twitter user commented on the post, writing: “They do need feeding, but not when I’m eating!”

The Only Way Is Essex star then hit back at the user, responding: “Wow!! So u can eat in a restaurant but a hungry baby can’t!?”

Lucy then shared a poll asking her followers: “Would you feel uncomfortable if a woman breast fed in a restaurant near u?”

Lucy partook in an Instagram Q&A this morning, where she revealed she intended to keep breastfeeding her son as long as he needed it.

“I plan to breastfeed over a year or as long as it’s something we both want to do.”

She then shared her advice for women starting their breastfeeding journey, admitting to her 1.7 million followers that she experienced paranoia worrying her son was always hungry.

“Something I wish I was told at the beginning.. If they are gaining weight and need their nappy changing a few times a day they ARE GETTING ENOUGH MILK!” she wrote.

“I really struggled with constant paranoia he was hungry! When he cries after a feed I’ve learnt it’s usually just wind not the fact he’s still hungry.”

Lucy previously opened up about the struggles of being a new mum during a global pandemic.

“Do you know what it has been really tough,” she confessed on a Good Morning Britain appearance.

“The first few weeks for me everyone said when I was pregnant people can come around and help, hold him while you nap, cook you dinner…”

“We haven’t had that support but what we have had is every single moment with him which is amazing,” she added.
