Love Island’s Mary Bedford has set the record straight on rumours she dated former contestant Chris Hughes.
The 22-year-old was linked to the 2017 Islander before she entered the villa herself this year.
In a new YouTube video, entitled ‘UPDATED MAKEUP TUTORIAL | ANSWERING YOUR ASSUMPTIONS!!!’, Mary shut down rumours Chris was her ex-boyfriend.
She said: “This one actually I feel like I do need to address because I came out of the villa and this was everywhere.”
“It’s just point blank a lie. Now this was a story that apparently came out when I was in the villa. Chris Hughes is not my ex boyfriend okay?”
“We are not exes, we went on one date.”
“I just want to address that he is not my ex boyfriend. I have never ever said he’s my ex boyfriend.”
“We’ve literally been.. we went one date, way over a year ago now and yeah that’s it, that’s the story crushed.”
“Just to address the rumour, it’s false,” Mary insisted.
It comes after Mary confirmed she and her Love Island co-star Aaron Simpson split just days after they were dumped from the show.
Taking part in an Instagram Q&A last month, Mary opened up about their split from the first time, admitting her head’s been “all over the place” since the death of her grandmother.
She said: “Aaron is an amazing person who has been supportive about everything since we left the show but right now there’s no pressure on us, I will always ben so grateful we met as he’s a massive part of my Love Island journey.”
“But I’m focusing on getting my head back in the right headspace which is why I haven’t been crazy active since coming out, but who knows about the future.”
