Love Island’s Dr Alex George speaks out after announcing younger brother’s death

The reality star is still trying to process what happened

Love Island’s Dr Alex George has thanked his followers for their support – after he announced the death of his younger brother, Llyr, on Friday.

In a heartbreaking Instagram post, the 30-year-old told fans he had lost his “beautiful little brother to mental health”.

Sharing a statement on his Instagram Story today, Alex wrote: “Thank you for all the messages of kindness here and to my phone.”

“I am incredibly grateful of the support and it means so much. I am sorry that I can’t reply yet. I need to try and process what has happened somehow.”

Alex announced Llyr’s death on Friday by sharing a photo of him and his younger brother on Instagram.

He captioned the post: “I can’t believe I am actually writing this post. I have lost my beautiful little brother to mental health.”

“I love you so much Llŷr. The kindest and most caring soul. I was so proud of you starting medical school next month, you would have been the most incredible doctor.”

“We are hurting so bad. No words can explain,” he continued. “As a family we are devastated. We love you and miss you so much. Please rest in peace x Our boy.”

A host of Love Island stars shared their support for Alex in the comment section.

Rosie Williams commented: “Oh no Alex! This is so awful. I’m so so sorry from the bottom of my heart. Sending you all the love in the world. Thinking of you and your family through this terrible time.”

Wes Nelson wrote: “So sorry to hear this Alex! Stay strong I love you mate!”

Alexandra Cane, who had a brief romance with Alex on Love Island, commented: “I’m so sorry Alex. My deepest condolences are with you and your family.”

Alex has had a tough few months, as he’s been working on the frontline in an A&E department in London during the coronavirus pandemic.

The 30-year-old also recently split from his girlfriend Amelia Bath.
