Love Island’s Camilla Thurlow writes book on ‘being yourself’ in a world dominated by ‘celebrity culture’

Camilla Thurlow has revealed that she’s written a book on “being yourself” in a world dominated by “celebrity culture and social media”.

The Love Island star, who appeared on the show in 2017, shared the cover of her new book on Instagram – and told her followers when it will be released.

“I am so pleased to reveal the cover of my book ‘Not The Type’, out on 20th August 2020,” she wrote.

“It’s about landmines, anxiety and finding the courage to confront your own fears in order to be yourself in a world dominated by celebrity culture and social media.”

A preview for the book’s content reads: “You can reinvent yourself, you can change, you can regress, you can be any number of things at any particular time.”

“Please give yourself permission to do that, and be equally as open-minded to others who chose to do the same.”

“Because perhaps, with just a little more compassion and acceptance, we won’t need to fit in to feel that we belong.”

The 31-year-old, who is expecting her first child with Jamie Jewitt, has previously opened up about her mental health struggles.

She got candid about her struggle with depression and anxiety while speaking on the How To Fail podcast earlier this year.

She said: “There’s just this constant feeling of unease, just in general, and it starts to become unbearable to be inside my own head all the time and I get completely trapped in it, trapped in a really sort of negative spiral.”

“It’s hard to talk about this necessarily, it’s not that the other option becomes any less terrifying but when life becomes unbearable like that you do start to think in a different way, it starts to change the way you look at everything.”

On the latest episode of Goss Chats, Ali Ryan chats to Ronan Keating about his star-studded upcoming music special, and working with Robbie Williams on a special new song dedicated to Stephen Gately.

#GossChats is sponsored by top aesthetic clinic Haus of JeJuve, which is now back open for bookings.
