Love Island’s AJ Bunker reveals what the show’s audition process is REALLY like

Love Island’s AJ Bunker has revealed what the show’s audition process is really like, ahead of the new season.

The 29-year-old, who entered the villa as a bombshell last year, has opened up about the interview process, and revealed the racy questions she was asked by producers.

The Hertfordshire native said she was an “open book”, and wasn’t afraid to speak about her “cheating exes” and her “horrific past” with men.

Speaking about her interview with TV executives, AJ told The Sun: “They asked how I would catch a guy’s attention – I said I would approach him because in my eyes you’ve got to risk it for a chocolate biscuit.”

“I think they chose me as a bombshell because I don’t mind chatting up a guy even if he was attached. They based it on my personality.”

During the audition process, AJ said she was asked if she “would have sex on TV”, to which she replied “no” because she “grew-up Catholic and didn’t want to be ‘executed’ by my priest or mum”.

According to AJ, producers also asked if she was “a sexual person”, and asked her to rate her skills in the bedroom.

After the audition process, which included multiple interviews, AJ had to endure an “agonising wait” to find out if she had made it onto the show.

The 29-year-old was given four weeks notice before travelling to Majorca for Love Island, but said it was “never 100 per cent” guaranteed she would make it into the villa.

“They normally put you in a hotel but because of Covid, I was in my own little villa with a chaperone for three and a half weeks,” she explained.

“We were in hiding and weren’t allowed our phones from that point on, so I had to bring mindfulness books and colouring books to keep myself occupied.”

“It was a waiting game and nothing was guaranteed, I know loads of people were flown back.”

“I was always told it was never 100 per cent guaranteed until I stepped foot in the villa,” she added.

Love Island returns to ITV2 and Virgin Media One on Monday, June 6.
