Love Island producers confirm sex WILL be shown in 2022 series as last year’s blackout ban is lifted

Love Island producers have confirmed sex WILL be shown in 2022 series.

Season eight of the hit dating show kicks off next Monday, June 6, with 11 sexy singletons heading into a brand new villa in Mallorca for a summer of love.

Ahead of the season premiere, the show’s executive producer Mike Spencer revealed there won’t be a blackout ban on the contestant’s intimate moments.

He told MailOnline: “We don’t decide anything in advance. You just don’t know until you see the footage, genuinely, we are so reactive we are cutting around the clock.”

“If something happens, we are cutting it overnight so until you see something it is hard to make a judgment and you just have to go with what is right.”

“The show does get it right, it’s suggestive and funny, music is a massive thing, and we will continue to do that but until we see it it’s difficult to tell and it depends on who it is.”

It comes after 2018 contestant Olivia Attwood revealed there were places in the villa that contestants could have sex in “without people knowing”.

Speaking to OK! Magazine last year, she said: “If you go upstairs during the day you could have sex in the toilet or wherever if you wanted it…”

“When you’re in the bedroom, there’s so many beds and so much noise from the camera run, the gallery, people whispering, you can do stuff under the covers without people knowing.”

The 2022 series of Love Island will premiere on ITV and Virgin Media Two on June 6 at 9pm.
