Little Mix star Jade Thirlwall has been forced to close her cocktail bar, amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The 27-year-old opened Arbeia in her hometown of South Shields last year, but the bar is now closed for the “foreseeable future”.

In a statement, the bar staff said: “It is with a heavy heart that today we announce Arbeia will be closing until further notice.”

“We have tried our best but unfortunately it is no longer possible for us to keep our doors open.”

“This isn’t goodbye forever, we will be back (with a bang) the way we do best, but we are unable to confirm when this will be,” the statement continued.

“We want to take this opportunity to thank all of our customers, staff, people who share, like and comment on our posts — your support has been incredible. We will see you soon, until then stay safe and support local.”

Jade’s cocktail bar was originally called Red Door when it opened in November 2019, but she changed its name to Arbeia (the Roman name for South Shields) in February 2020.
