Liam Payne’s ex Maya Henry breaks silence four months after stars death

Liam Payne’s ex Maya Henry has broken her silence four months after the stars death.

The Texan model has remained mostly quiet on social media since Liam’s passing, as cruel trolls targeted her in the wake of his death.

Liam and Maya had an on-off relationship between 2019 – 2022, and got engaged in 2020.

In a new issue of Rolling Stone, the model has broken her silence on the stars death.

On October 16th, police officials confirmed that the One Direction singer had died after falling from the third floor of a hotel in Argentina.

According to reports, the 31-year-old had been acting erratically and was escorted back to his hotel room before he fell to his death from the third floor.

In a statement to the outlet, she wrote: “This was someone I loved very much, initially, it was the drug use and addictions that tore us apart. Anyone who has been with an addict understands how difficult that is.”

“While I loved him deeply, he did things that hurt me in ways I’ll never fully understand, and he continued to hurt me years after we broke up,” added Henry to the outlet.

“On drugs, he became someone unrecognizable — so different from his sober self.”

She continued: “I kept hoping each incident would be a wake-up call for him to get help, but it never was. I tried to be there for him. I loved him so much that I convinced myself I could fix things.”

“I knew there were parts of himself he was struggling with — parts of his identity he wasn’t ready to fully face, even within our relationship,” she said.

“In the end, it wasn’t just the betrayals or the addictions that broke us — it was the realization that I had spent years in something that was never what I thought it was. I don’t fault him for his struggles.”

Maya talked candidly about her relationship with Liam, acknowledging that she had naively believed that if she stayed long enough, she might “fix things” and transform him.

This often resulted in her “ignoring every red flag” and putting herself in “unsafe” circumstances.

Maya felt an overpowering sense of “emptiness” after the pair broke up, despite her best efforts to keep them together.

She found the split especially difficult since she realised how much she had been through.

“The love I gave, the sacrifices I made — they weren’t enough because they never could be,” she confessed.

“I wasn’t just heartbroken; I felt defrauded, as so many women in my position would. But what I do know is this: It wasn’t about me or anything I did. It was about struggles beyond my control. And in the end, I had to choose myself. I had to walk away, no matter how much it hurt, because staying in his world meant losing myself.”

Just days before his death, Maya accused the singer of obsessively contacting her friends and family – including her mother Azteca Henry.

Her lawyers told MailOnline: “Maya Henry issued a cease and desist last week to Payne following the emergence of new and concerning information.

“She has retained attorneys Marco Crawford and Daniel Cerna to represent her. At this time, that is her only comment on the matter.”

On October 6th, Maya also shared an eight-minute video on TikTok about Liam.

“Ever since we broke up he messages me, will blow up my phone, not only from his phone, it’s always from different phone numbers too, so I never know where it’s gonna come from,” she said in the video, which has since been deleted.

“He’ll create new iCloud accounts to message me – it’s always a new damn iCloud account. Every time I see one pop up on my phone I’m like, ‘here we f***ing go again.’”

“Also, he will email me… not only me, but he’ll blow up my mom’s phone. Is this normal behaviour to you?”

As she described how his supporters reacted to her, Maya accused Liam of “weaponising” his people against her.

Speaking on The Internet is Dead podcast weeks before his death, Maya also said she believed the musician was using suicide threats as a “manipulation tactic.”

“He would always message me ever since we broke up [saying], ‘Oh, I’m not well,’” she claimed. “He would always play with death and be like, ‘Well, I’m going to die. I’m not doing well.’”
